About This Program
This 8-hour, hands-on course provides foundational education in landmark-based peripheral IV insertion using an ANTT®-based, evidence-informed approach. Designed to strengthen core IV skills and clinical judgment, the program emphasizes vessel health and preservation, infection prevention, device selection, and safe insertion technique. Learners participate in faculty-guided instruction and manikin-based practice to develop procedural confidence and competency consistent with the latest standards and guidelines.

Upon completion of this course, learners will be able to:
Apply ANTT® principles during peripheral IV insertion
Demonstrate effective infection prevention practices and non-touch technique
Assess and select appropriate peripheral veins using inspection and palpation
Select appropriate IV devices based on patient and therapy needs
Perform landmark-based peripheral IV insertion using safe, aseptic technique
Secure and dress peripheral IV catheters using evidence-based methods
Recognize and respond to IV-related complications
Apply clinical judgment and escalation criteria during difficult access situations
Document peripheral IV insertion and provide patient education appropriately
